UAF delivers US$19million of aid to Armenia in 2011 so far

GLENDALE—The United Armenian Fund delivered $19 million of humanitarian aid to Armenia from January to September of this year.

 

The UAF itself collected $10.5 of medicines and other materials donated by several charities, including AmeriCares ($5.1 million), Catholic Medical Mission Board ($3.3 million), Direct Relief International ($1 million), Hope for the City ($533,000), Health Partners International of Canada ($243,000), Jezreel International ($176,000), and Feed the Children Fund ($121,000).

Other organizations which contributed valuable goods during this period were: Consulate General of Armenia in Los Angeles ($1.4 million), World Vision – US ($1 million), Armenian Christian Mission of Australia ($531,000), Harut Chantikian of New Jersey ($470,000), Armenian EyeCare Project ($410,000), Juliette Serabian of France ($368,000), Knights of Vartan ($358,000), Action Sante Armenie France ($308,000), Paros “Lighthouse” Charitable Foundation ($203,000), Garni Foundation ($197,000), International Relief & Development ($192,000), Armenian Gospel Mission ($192,000), Armenian Ministries ($187,000), Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief ($185,000), Armenian Relief Society – Western Region ($175,000), St. Vartanants Armenian Apostolic Church ($163,000), Dr. Stephen Kashian ($161,000), Focus on Children Now ($160,000), Dr. Ara Nahabedian of UK ($156,000), Armenian Missionary Association of America ($152,000), World Vision – Canada ($151,000), Birthlink ($145,000), Dr. Jirair Konialian ($123,000), Hologic Inc. ($120,000), and Project Agape ($104,000).

Also contributing major supplies were: Lucine Harvey ($89,000), Kapriel Ghamberji ($89,000), YMCA – Zurich ($82,000), Friends of Armenia ($79,000), Achot Schemavonian of France ($74,000), New York/New Jersey Armenian Students Association ($72,000), Fund for Armenian Relief ($60,000), Dr. Samuel Malayan ($60,000), Institution for Recycling Network ($56,000), Barlow Der Mugrdechian/Bill Rice ($49,000), Foundation Semra ($47,000), Howard Karagheusian Commemorative Corp. ($36,000), American University of Armenia ($28,000), Dr. Hagop Hovaguimian ($24,000), Amaras Art Alliance ($22,000), and Armenian International Ophthalmic Association ($21,000).

Since its inception in 1989, the UAF has sent $632 million of humanitarian assistance to Armenia on board 158 airlifts and 1,942 sea containers.

The UAF is the collective effort of the Armenian Catholic Eparchy, Armenian General Benevolent Union, Armenian Missionary Association of America, Armenian Relief Society, Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, and Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America.
