MEDIA RELEASE: Joint Javakhk Committee Launches Support for TUMO Box Project

The Joint Javakhk Committee has launched a program to support the creation of a TUMO box in Akhaltsikhe, Georgia. The objective of the committee is to bring TUMO technologies and educational programs to hundreds of young people in Javakhk.

“Javakhk’s social and economic challenges are well documented,” said ARS Australia Regional Committee Chair, Nina Kaprielian.

“The ARS has been working over several years to support the ARS Youth Centres in Javakhk and we’re pleased to now also lend our support to the Akhaltsikhe TUMO box as an initiative of the Joint Javkahk Committee,” said Kaprielian.

TUMO is a free-of-charge educational program that puts teens in charge of their own learning. Participants will have access to self-learning activities, workshops and project labs that revolve around various technology-related learning targets.

The Akhaltsikhe TUMO box will be a low-cost, technically equipped mini TUMO which makes the TUMO curriculum accessible to young people from Akhaltsikhe and the surrounding more remote areas of Javakhk.

“By making technology accessible to young people in Javakhk, we want to create opportunities for future employment, establish new industries, and drive growth and prosperity in the Javakhk region,” said AYF Australia Central Executive Chair, Nanor Shokayan.

The Joint Javakhk Committee will be discussing the modern day challenges in Javakhk and the humanitarian work in support of the Akhaltsikhe TUMO box at two events in Sydney:
