BAKU (Combined Sources)-Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan on Tuesday said if there was progress in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution talks then Turkey-Armenia talks would resume.

"If there is progress in Azerbaijan-Armenia talks on Nagorno-Karabakh, then Turkey-Armenia relations will also succeed. Progress in the latter is suspended as there is no advancement in the former. But in due time there can be progress in Turkey-Armenia relations. It is connected to Nagorno-Karabakh," asserted Ambassador Hulusi Kilic.

Recently Turkish and Azeri circles have begun a flurry commentary on whether Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian should travel to Turkey in October to watch a soccer match between the two countries' national teams.

Kilic said that Sarkisian was welcome to Turkey and that the "Armenian President can travel to Turkey by air."

"Around 50 days are left before the soccer match. If the President of Armenia wishes to watch the match then, welcome, he can do it," declared Kilic commenting on Sarkisian's recent statement that he would not travel to Turkey unless significant inroads were made in the so-called "roadmap" negotiations.

Meanwhile, leading Azeri opposition leader Vafa Guluzade told a press conference in Baku on Tuesday reiterated Kilic's preconditions, predicting that Sarkisian would not travel to Turkey as "he has nothing to do there."

"Turkey will not make any concessions and will not make the minimum effort so that Sarkisian will visit the country," said Guluzade claiming that Armenia was not complying with the "roadmap" principles, as it opposed the creation of a commission to study the Genocide.

Evidently, Guluzade is confirming the existence of preconditions in the roadmap. When the April 22 agreement was announced, the sides underscored that there would be no preconditions on Turkish-Armenian dialogue. Since then, however, several sources-not official Yerevan-have confirmed that, indeed, there are preconditions to the talks.
