YEREVAN (Mediamax)—The Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan stated that “Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will as soon as possible answer to the Azerbaijani nation and [international courts of justice] for his bloody acts.”
As Interfax-Azerbaijan informs, the statement was published on the website of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

“As to ballistic missiles about which Serzh Sargsyan spoke, we firmly state that the military equipment Armenian Armed Forces possess can nowise be compared to the modern armament and equipment Azerbaijan possesses. The defective, expired and outdated equipment Armenia has since the Soviet era, including the “Scud” liquid-propellant missiles are not only incapable of destroying an object but cannot even fly,” the statement of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reads.
“If Armenia resorts to military operations against Azerbaijan, then the Azerbaijani army armed with state-of-the-art, modern and high-precision armament will destroy any military infrastructure and strategic object in the territory of Armenia,” the statement notes.
The Azeri minister was responding to statements by Sargsyan that Armenia’s military is capable of targeting Azeri settlements if, as Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense threatened, Azerbaijan targeted Yerevan. The Azeri Defense Minister claimed that Baku’s military could “raise Yerevan to the ground.”
Meanwhile, military experts say that Scud is a top-class ballistic missile due to its impressive destructive potential. In addition, the Armenian Armed Forces have thoroughly improved the precision of the missiles.
It should be noted that on Monday, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated in an interview with ArmNews TV that he does not find it rational to respond to every statement made by the representatives of Azerbaijan.
