PARIS (ArmRadio)—On Sunday, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian participated in the Unity March in Paris, symbolizing the international community’s solidarity with France in the fight against terrorism and intolerance. The March was dedicated to the memory of the victims of a terrorist attack in Paris that killed 17 people from Jan. 7 to 9.

More than 40 world leaders and scores of other officials arrived in Paris to take part in the March.

The President of the French Republic François Hollande received representatives from the international community in the Élysée Palace before the start of the March. Nalbandian conveyed the Armenian people’s condolences to the people of France, expressing support and solidarity.

On Jan. 7, Muslim gunmen entered the offices of the Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris and opened fire on staff, killing 11 people, including the magazine’s editor and a police officer nearby. The attack was reportedly a response to drawings by humorists published in Charlie Hebdo, which depicted the Prophet Mohammad in ways that some Muslims found offensive. The gunmen then went on the run for two days, killing several other people before being shot dead by French police.

A fourth assailant, Hayat Boumeddiene, was never found and is still wanted. She is thought to have fled France since the attacks. French intelligence reports suggest she has fled to Syria through Turkey.
