Armenia and Kuwait sign tourism, agriculture agreement

Armenia's Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamian meets with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak al-Hamad al-Sabah


KUWAIT CITY (Arka)—Armenia and Kuwait have signed a tourism and agriculture cooperation program for 2015 to 2017, the press office of the Armenian government reported on Wednesday.

 

The Armenian delegation, headed by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamian, visited Kuwait, invited by the head of the Kuwaiti government Jaber al-Mubarak al-Hamad al-Sabah.

The agreement was signed by the minister of economy Karen Chshmaritian and minister of agriculture Sergo Karapetian from the Armenian side, and by minister of trade and industry Abdel Muhsin Al-Mudij and the first vice-premier and foreign minister sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

The sides stressed the importance of intensified efforts from the Armenian-Kuwaiti intergovernmental commission. Opportunities for cooperation in other fields, including industry and infrastructure, were discussed as well.

The delegations considered possible arrangements of direct flights between the two countries. Prime Minister Abrahamian invited his Kuwaiti counterpart to visit Armenia.

At his meeting with the emir, the Armenian premier said his visit signaled his country’s commitment to development of bilateral relations and the exploration of new opportunities for further cooperation with Kuwait.

Kuwait’s emir, in turn, thanked Abrahamian and stressed the importance of the premier’s visit in promoting development of Armenia-Kuwait ties.
