Artsakh inspectors approve detention conditions of Azeri nationals

STEPANAKERT—On Tuesday, Coordinator of the Artsakh Committee of the Helsinki Initiative-92, Karen Ohanjanian, and Executive Director of the Committee, Svetlana Jhangirian, visited Azerbaijani nationals Dilham Askerov and Shahbaz Guliyev convicted for their subversive activity in the Karvachar region of the Artsakh Republic.

 

The human rights defenders had the opportunity to inspect the cells where the two Azeris are kept and examine their sanitary conditions, medical services, quality of food, as well as the availability of information and literature. Both detainees expressed satisfaction with the conditions of detainment.

The human rights defenders assured that the conditions in which Askerov and Guliyev are serving their sentence fully comply with the norms of international law.
