The Swiss investors of the project have released a timetable for the establishment of a caviar-producing facility, which will be located near the borderland village of Madaghis.
“The first building is already complete,” said head of Himnakar Company implementing the construction works Serj Poghosian.
The facility will have production facilities as well as living areas for workers. Part of the production facilities will be artificial ponds in which caviar will be cultivated and harvested. Production of caviar is expected to begin in 2019.
Upon completion of the program, 50 to 60 new jobs will be created in Madaghis. The mayor of Madaghis, Zaven Avanesian, said he is looking forward to the project. “It is important that women will have the chance to work there,” Avanesian said. “Men have no problem with jobs. There are organizations operating in and around our village, providing jobs for the men of our village. But we have no jobs for women. We hope to resolve this issue with the construction of the facility.”
About 30 million euro is expected to be invested in the coming 5 to 6 years on the project.
