“The soldier was found sane following a psychiatric examination. Investigators claim he was fully aware of what he was doing at the time the crime was committed,” the agency quoted its source as saying. “The experts identified a number of psychiatric deviations and disorders, but found him sane.”
The examination was conducted at Russia’s 102nd military base in Gyumri, where Permyakov is being held in custody and where he will stand trial.
As a result of an armed assault by Permyakov on Jan. 12, a family of seven was killed. A six-month-old baby was fatally wounded and died of its injuries a week later. Permyakov was charged with the murder of two or more persons under the Armenian Criminal Code. He pled guilty later in January.
