YEREVAN (Arka)—More than thirty Armenian IT companies have confirmed their participation in the 8th annual DigiTec Business Forum 2015 to be held in Yerevan, the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), the organizers of the event, said Monday.

DigiTec 2015 is scheduled to take place on June 19 through 20 under the theme “Smart solutions for smart businesses.” The event will bring together representatives of businesses and Armenian IT companies.

The purpose of the event is to promote the development of entrepreneurship in the IT sector, help create effective conditions for access to information on the latest technological solutions and exchange of experience, as well as encouraging different businesses in the search for optimal technical solutions.

This year’s gathering will focus on tourism, trade, agriculture, construction, mining, finance, e-commerce, health, education, and transport.

The two-day forum will include plenary sessions, business presentations, exhibitions, seminars, round tables, meetings with local and international entrepreneurs, experts and representatives of government agencies.

According to UITE Executive Director Karen Vardanyan, although the IT sector has been reporting stable and visible growth in many years in a row, ‘it will reach real results only if other spheres of Armenian businesses and public administration apply technological solutions in their activities.’

The Union of Information Technology Enterprises of Armenia was founded in 2000 to protect the economic interests of IT companies, stimulate business development and promotion of research in the field IT.
