YEREVAN (Public Radio of Armenia)—Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian received Herbert Salber, the European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, on July 7. Efforts by Armenia and the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries aimed at moving the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process forward were discussed.
Salber stressed that there was no alternative other than a peaceful resolution to the conflict, and reaffirmed the EU’s support to the negotiation process within the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship format.
Nalbandian and Salber also touched upon the support expressed in the Riga Summit Declaration to the efforts made by the Heads of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries and statements made by them since 2009 aimed at the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
In related news, the US has expressed its commitment to working with Russia and France in the settlement of the Artsakh conflict.
“In meetings in Washington the Co-Chairs heard from the US that we are committed to working with Russia and France on Nagorno Karabakh settlement,” US Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick said in a Twitter post.
The Co-Chairs were in Washington on June 6 to hold meetings at the US Department of State the Department of Defense and the National Security Council.
