YEREVAN (ARKA)—Ucom, an Armenian telecommunications company, will purchase 100% of the French-owned mobile service provider Orange Armenia, Ucom press secretary Naira Karmirshalyan told ARKA News Agency on Friday.
“We can place it on record that Ucom provides ultramodern and quality services, and mobile telecommunication will become a part of them, replenishing the range of already provided services,” Karmirshalyan said.
Karmirshalyan added that the company will continue to provide its high-quality IP television, broadband Internet, and fixed telephony services.
Karmirshalyan refrained from forecasting the results of the Ucom’s negotiations with Orange Armenia.
“This stage of negotiations began just now and it is not clear how it will end, we can’t make forecasts,” Karmirshalyan said.
UCom (Universal Communications), established in 2007, provides telecommunication services in Armenia. The company, under support from Ericsson, has created a broadband access network servicing Yerevan with Internet, IP television, and fixed telephony service.
