ETCHMIADZIN (Public Radio of Armenia)—President Serzh Sarkisian took part in celebration events dedicated to the 2700th anniversary of the founding of Etchmiadzin today.
Sarkisian first visited Vazgen Sargsyan Square located next to Saint Hripsime Church, where he attended the opening of a new monument dedicated to General Vazgen Sargsyan.
Afterwards, Sarkisian visited the building site of the town’s new sports complex, participating in its groundbreaking ceremony and familiarizing himself with the construction of the sports school.
As part of the events to mark the 2700th anniversary of Etchmiadzin, Sarkisian also visited the newly-renovated Yeghishe Tadevosyan Art School. The president met with some 300 of the school’s students and viewed their work. Sarkisian then paid tribute to the memory of martyrs of the Artsakh Liberation War and placed flowers at the monument to the heroes.
Sarkisian also took part in a solemn gathering at the municipality’s conference hall with town dwellers, numerous guests, and honorary citizens of Etchmiadzin.
