YEREVAN (PanArmenia.net)—Greco-Roman wrestler, two-time world champion, three-time European Champion and Olympic bronze medalist Artur Aleksanyan was named Armenia’s best athlete of 2015, according to the National Olympic Committee.
The top 10 Armenian athletes were chosen on the initiative of the Sports Journalists Federation, with 34 reporters involved in the process.
The following Armenian athletes made it to the top 10: Greco-Roman wrestler Mihran Harutyunyan, sports gymnast Harutyun Merdinyan, weightlifter Tigran Martirosyan, sports gymnast Artur Tovmasyan, taekwondoist Arman Yeremyan, Samboist Tigran Kirakosyan, boxer Aram Avagyan, and weightlifters Andranik Karapetyan and Smbat Margaryan.
The men’s chess team was named the best national team of the year.
