King Abdullah II of Jordan told US lawmakers in January that Turkey wants radical Islam to prevail in the Middle East and flow to Europe.

This and other statements, including Israel turning a blind eye on the Al-Nusra Islamic militant group, were revealed by The Guardian newspaper, which obtained leaked documents from a briefing King Abdullah presented to high-level US lawmakers, among them Senate Armed Services Committee chairman John McCain, Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman Bob Corker and House Speaker Paul Ryan when he was visiting the US in January.

According to The Guradian, Abdullah told the lawmakers that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “believes in a radical Islamic solution to the problems in the region.” He went on to say that “that terrorists are going to Europe as part of Turkish policy, and Turkey keeps getting a slap on the hand, but they get off the hook.”

Abdullah also elaborates that Israel is turning a blind eye on the Al-Nusra Islamic militant group, which gained free access from Turkey’s porous border to attack and briefly invade the Armenian-populated city of Kessab.

He added that the Israel’s posturing was based on Tel Aviv’s belief that the Al-Nusra front was in direct opposition to Hezbollah, which it sees as a threat to the region because of its alliance with the Palestinian Authority and Hamas.

The brunt of Abdullah’s briefing also revealed that Great Britain had covertly deployed special forces in Libya, with the assistance and participation of Jordanian special forces, which were embedded alongside the UK units.

King Abdullah’s biggest warning came regarding al-Shabaab, an east African jihadist group with a lower profile than ISIS, Boko Haram and others, but which has begun to “feed into Libya.”

“Jordan is looking at al-Shabaab because no one was really looking at the issue, and we cannot separate this issue, and the need to look at all the hotspots in the map. We have a rapid deployment force that will stand with the British and Kenya and is ready to go over the border into Somalia,” he told congressmen, according to The Gurardian.
