YEREVAN—President Serzh Sarkisian called Secretary of State John Kerry Monday to discuss the situation following Azerbaijan’s brutal attack on the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic earlier this month, reported the presidential press service.
Sarkisian emphasized Baku’s irresponsibility, saying that it gravely impacted the peace process.
Kerry reportedly reiterated that the U.S fully supports the process of peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict. The two stressed that there is no alternative to the peaceful resolution of the conflict and that mutually acceptable solution mechanisms based on fundamental principles should be found.
Importance was attached to the role of the OSCE Minsk Group chairmanship, considering that it is the only internationally recognized format of the conflict settlement.
