President Serzh Sarkisian met with France’s leader Francois Hollande on Saturday in Warsaw

WARSAW–President Serzh Sarkisian met with his French counterpart Francois Hollande on the sidelines of a NATO summit on Saturday.

One of the focal points of the meeting was a discussion on the current state of activities surrounding the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Sarkisian praised France’s pro-active role in the peace process as well as its leadership as a co-chairing country of the OSCE Minsk Group. He thanked Hollande for his personal efforts and contribution to stability in the region.

Sarkisian stressed the importance of unconditional implementation of provisions incorporated in statements adopted at meetings in Vienna and St. Petersburg. They exchanged views on the prospects of furthering the negotiation process.

The two leaders also discussed the considerable expansion of economic cooperation between Armenia and France and noted that France was a leading EU investor in Armenia.

Sarkisian also expressed his gratitude on the recent passage by the French parliament of a bill that criminalizes the denial of the Armenian Genocide.
