RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil— Gymnast Houry Gebeshian’s original element on the uneven bars performed at the 2016 Rio Olympics-“The Gebeshian”-has been officially approved by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and will be published in their respective Code of Points.
The Armenian-American gymnast became the first female to compete for Armenia in her category. On August 7.
Although she did not qualify for the final round, Gebeshian thanked all of her fans for their support during the Olympic Games. “What more could I ask for? [I] Loved my Olympic experience. [I] was smiling the entire time,” she said in a post on her official Facebook page.
The element describes as a hecht mount with a 360 degree turn, repulsing off the lower to the higher bar.
