Artsakh delegation meets with South Ossetia president

TSKHINVALI, South Ossetian, STEPANAKERT—A delegation headed by the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Presidential advisor Yuri Hayrapetian,  in South Ossetia to mark that country’s independence day, met with its president, Leonid Tibilov on Monday, reported news.am.

Tibilov warmly welcomed the guests, saying that “it is very pleasant to see the representatives of the friendly people in South Ossetia. Our relations come once again to prove that we are on the right track. I hope our relations will further develop in the future.”

He also expressed hope that the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh will remain peaceful “The situation in the world is restless enough. Each and every one should do their utmost to maintain peace and calm,” Tibilov said.

“We would like to extend our best wishes – peace, development and tranquility – to South Ossetia. We are happy for the changes which are taking place in the republic and hope that the Republic of South Ossetia will advance further,” said Hayrapetian, Artsakh’s presidential advisor.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Tibilov awarded Hayrapetyan with a medal “in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of South Ossetia Republic.”

On Tuesday, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic president Bako Sahakian issued a congratulatory note to Tibilov on South Ossetia’s Independence day.

“South Ossetia is an ally to us and we share a common in history, culture and national traditions,” said Sahakian in his message.

“Your friendship is highly appreciated in Artsakh. During the formation of its independent statehood South Ossetia has gone through a difficult yet glorious path demonstrating a true example of endurance and heroism.”
