YEREVAN—The 25th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence was marked by a sprawling military parade in the nation’s capital, with hundreds of Armed Forces troops marching on Republic Square. The parade also provided an opportunity for Armenia to showcase new missiles.
During the parade on Wednesday, the Armenian Armed Forces showcased, for the first time, Iskander tactical missiles and other advance military hardware recently acquired from Russia, with President Sarkisian hailing Armenia’s prowess by saying, “We have the power to defend our freedom and our rights. This parade is a testimony to that strength.”
Asbarez will provide more coverage of Independence festivities in Armenia in future editions.
