YEREVAN (Armenpress)—Armenian-Argentine trade and economic relations are on quite a high level, Ambassador of Argentina to Armenia Gonzalo Urriolabeitia said during a press conference.

“As you may know, Argentina is one of the main investors in Armenia. There quite a lot of Argentine-Armenian businessmen who do business in Armenia, greatly fostering the development of these relations,” the Ambassador said. “Armenian-Argentine trade and economic relations are in a phase of a very interesting and dynamic development and indeed, there has been a great tendency of development during recent years. Argentina always highly appreciates the historical and high political relations with Armenia.”

According to him, in the sidelines of trade and economic relations, much is done in the sphere of agriculture, and works are underway with the committee of tourism to foster mutual visits of tourists.

“Argentina really highly values the relations with Armenia, considering also the large number of Armenian Diaspora in Argentina,” the Ambassador said, adding that the development potential is visible.

For example, the Embassy of Argentina in Armenia has organized a series of events dedicated to Argentine wine.

A number of ceremonies will be held during “Argentine Wine Week” scheduled from April 17-23, during which people will have a chance to taste various Argentine wines in Yerevan’s best restaurants and wine houses with major discounts.

Urriolabeitia said a special week is expected since it will include wide range of events compared to last year.

“The main idea of the initiative is to transfer more information on the Argentine culture, wine, sports and other achievements to the Armenian public. Argentina is ranked 5th in the world in the wine-making field, and is 9th in terms of export, therefore, we consider it important to once more show what important role wine plays in the Argentine culture”, the Ambassador told reporters.

He informed that the events were organized not only to present the types of wines, but also they aim at boosting cooperation with Armenia’s private sector, as well as developing tourism.

“We held a number of meetings, talks with the food production organizations, and we’re convinced that the Argentine wine has its own place in Yerevan which is one of the most important tourism centers,” Urriolabeitia said.

Within the framework of events, training on the features of Argentine wine will be held for the staff of restaurants on April 19, followed by an “Argentine dinner” on April 21, and more.
