Turkey is working to create closer political ties with China and reduce its trade gap with the Asian country, the Turkish foreign minister said Wednesday, calling the growing relationship an "awakening of history."

The leaders of Turkey and four EU countries signed a long anticipated agreement on Monday aimed at reducing Europe's reliance on Russian energy, reported the Turkish Hurriyet Daily.

Turkey is extremely unlikely to ratify its fence-mending protocols with Armenia at this juncture, a senior Turkish lawmaker and deputy chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) said on Thursday.
