Arthur Abraham receives Germany's Boxer of the Year award


BERLIN–The Armenian boxer Arthur Abraham has been declared Germany’s best boxer of the year, reported Armenpress.

The jury of the German BoxSport magazine and the readers decided to give their votes to the Armenian professional boxer, world champion Arthur Abraham. Due to the poles, Arthur Abraham scored 1053 votes, while Vladimir Klitchko and Yoan Pablo Hernández scored 775 and 763 votes respectively. This is already the sixth time that our compatriot wins in this nomination.

Arthur Abraham was born on February 20, 1980, in Yerevan to parents Grigor and Sylvia Abrahamyans. His little brother, Alexander, is also a professional boxer. He moved to Germany with his parents and brothers at the age of 15. He became a citizen of Germany in August 2006. Abraham started his professional career on August 16, 2003, being promoted by HyeFighters. Sauerland-promoted Abraham had many impressive early victories. He defeated Canadian southpaw Ian Gardner (18–1) for the vacant WBA Inter-Continental Middleweight title, Hector Velazco (former WBO Champion) and contender Nader Hamdan (36–1).
