The 1,500-person crowd at the ANCA-WR annual banquet
CENTURY CITY, Calif.—Some 2,000 community members came together over the weekend for the Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region’s Grassroots Conference and annual Gala Banquet, which took place at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza hotel.
Over a course of two days, beginning Friday evening, more than 500 people attended the biennale Grassroots conference, which featured leading figures in the arts, academia, law, public relations and politics speaking about a variety of topics that motivated the participants to advance their activism for the Armenian Cause.
On Sunday, 1,500 community members turned out for the ANCA-WR Annual Gala Banquet, which took place in the hotel’s main ballroom. During the evening, the ANCA-WR honored Walter Karabian with the Legacy Award, Geoffrey Robertson and Amal Clooney with the Advocates for Justice Award, author Eric Bogosian with the Arts & Letters Award and the Armenian Youth Federation Western Region with the Vahan Cardashian award.
