Welcome to this, the 2017 edition!

Armenia Online attracted over 100,000 pageviews during the 12 months from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017, with visitors being treated to news and views from Armenia and the Armenian world.

NOW WE PRESENT... the Armenia Online stories of the year, based on official readership figures compiled since January 1, 2017.

 

TOP STORY OF THE YEAR

Entertainment stories featured prominently this year, with the announcement of Charles Aznavour's postponed tour to Australia, Sirusho wowing Sydney, the (eventually) successful Ara Gevorgyan appearance, the visit of the Sayat Nova Ensemble, as well as the national theatrical release of Armenian Genocide epic, The Promise dominating the attention of our readers. Gladys Berejiklian's elevation to the position of Premier of New South Wales also attracted global attention, and that of our readers.

Of course, armenia.com.au closely followed military and diplomatic developments in Artsakh, while the situation surrounding Armenians in Syria remained a focus. Not to mention, the widest coverage of Australian-based news, political, education, sports, cultural, etc remained popular.

The overall most viewed Armenian-language story on Armenia Online in 2017 was titled Կոչ Աւստրալահայութեան - Ամրապնդենք Մեր Պայքարի Հիմքերը, covering a joint Commemorative Declaration by the three major Armenian-Australian political organisations, the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation and the Armenian Democratic Liberal (Ramgavar) Party. The winner of this category in 2017, in short, was one of our community's greatest products ever, Gladys Berejiklian. She was elevated to the position of Premier of New South Wales. This is always the most competitive category, with events rating well with our audience. We have eliminated Aznavour story from this category as it is about an event that did not happen. Therefore the top Event story of 2017 was covering the release of The Promise in Australian theatres.
